Working on some acrylic pieces…

DSC_2857_0880

This piece is at the stage of glazing, once the initial ink drawing is complete I went in with two glazes, one a red iron oxide glaze and then once dry a nickel azo glaze.  Then using a burnt umber and some pthalo blue with a little white I dropped in the underpainting color on the tree and the leaves on the birch still left on the trees after the summer.  I will now go in to add the local colors to reflect this winter scene.

This piece is one of the exercises we did to develop texture using three kinds of mediums – clear tar gel, high solid gel and molding paste.  Once these textures were completely dry I started to go in and bring out the final colors so I’m working on that part of it now. Fir and Birch trees2
